Do you need to be CRB checked? All Umpires & Coaches working in schools and clubs MUST be CRB checked with the ECB and MK Council and carry either ECBCA, ECB Officials Association, ACU&S or Bacus membership combined with the relevant insurance, welfare and first aid certification.
All club members and helpers working with children should also be CRB checked, but MUST at least complete a helper self declarations form for the Club that they assist. If you need help with this contact Colin Skears at MKDCA.
There are a variety of grants available to Clubs and individuals ranging
from National Club Lottery grants of £1000s to the CDO’s small
Grants of £75. If you want to find out if your project may be suitable,
contact Damien Dunlop and he will give you a list of the grants available.
On all grant activity, it is advisable to talk with the CDM before spending
time on your application. Remember no one is “entitled” to a
grant. You will have to contribute to sport development in some way. And
beware of “tokenism”; development plans must have substance and
not be “simply to tick grant aid boxes”. It is difficult to endorse
token applications. You will also need a 3 or 5-year club development plan.
A couple of publications that are worth studying are the ECB’s “Developing
Your Club” and the Barclays “Running Sport” series of booklets.
Grant support is also available locally via SPORT MK for small clubs and
personal sports development, including ECB coaching, first aid, and working
with children courses.
Happy treasure-hunting.
